Week 6 so Far, and a bit of baseball…

Machine Trumps Man

What’ better than a coin flip, but worse than DVOA? Well, my picks of course. With the Monday Night game still to be played I went7-5, and the DVOA went 9-3. What was most surprising about the DVOA being wrong on 3 games was the games it missed. Cincy was rated 20% better overall than the Chiefs, Arizona was rated 34% over Carolina, and Seattle was rated 52% better than N.O. The standings after the 2nd week of Me v. DVOA before tonights game:

Monkey 16-9

DVOA 20-5

Man Makes Crass Observations

—My Grandma’s van has too many features. So does her cell phone

—Thank God for your youth. MS is a bitch. A stone cold bitch.

—I like deviled eggs, they’re all the fun of hors’ de’vourves, with all the calories of breakfast.

—‘Resplendant’ I love radio guys trying to paint a picture. (Does the phrase ‘left from right’ help anyone really visualize whats happening?)

—Rock Cartwright and Khary Campbell need to take a step back. Both are extreme examples of hyper-aggressive-ness hurting instead of helping. They seem to be a case in point of a Redskins team that lacked focus today. Dropping passes and fumbles both stem from a lack of focus, and its tough to focus when you’re trembling with impotent-rage. Get on the Prozac buddy.

—The-Ten-Yard-bring-the-TD-back-Phantom-Hold! Its everyone’s favorite call. Thanks Terry McAulay! Way to miss Bubba Franks being pushed out of the End Zone! Green Bay is now 1 for 2 FG’s instead of scoring 2 TD’s this game, because Officiating Crew G sucks ass at their jobs. Not just in this game either: check that link to see what I mean.

Charles Woodson shall hereby be know simply as ‘Chas’

—Laughing….So….Hard….verizon….blocking sled…ad…

Favre completed his first pass to himself, is that the QB equivalent of being his own grandpa?

—Sign up today for the Joe Gibbs school of clock management!

—Dear FOX; why not go directly to Min/Chi? Halftime show??? BULL RIDING??? You can’t be serious….

—Nice Non-Interfering Pass-Interference call on Dallas’s #41 Newman. This kind of thing should be challengable. It’s clear that throughout the whole play Newman isn’t closer to Randy Moss than 3 feet, much less interes with a pass.

—Marion Barber III just pulled a Sanders-esque move and runs 60+ yards, almost stuck for a safety, winding up with a 4 yard gain.

Trevor – “We’ll test your theory…”

Baseball Baseball Baseball.

In the NLCS the Rockies are up 3 games to none on the D-backs. I had predicted that the dbacks would be down 2 games to one at this point, but Rockies manager Clint Hurdle flipped the script and started Josh Fogg in game three instead of Franklin Morales (who will pitch Game 4 for the Rockies against Micah Owings). I still think Morales is the weak link in the Colorado rotation and am picking him to lose, but for Colorado to win Game 5 and take the series 4 games to 1.

In the ALCS I was right about who would win game 2, but not about the why. I though Carmona would go 7+ innings, and Schilling would fall off early, when in fact both starters were bounced after 5. Game 3 is tonight, and I picked Boston to win so we’ll see. I still like Boston to win the series 4 games to 1.

What’s on Tonight

Well silly, Monday Night Football of Course! And Game 3 of the Boston – Cleveland series. I’m watching the baseball game, because who wants to watch the New York Giants play the Atlanta Falcons? No one from Atlanta, that’s for sure…..

Oh, btw, the NFL Trading deadline is Oct 17th. I put the over\under on deadline trades at 1. and I’m taking the under,
